At Habitat Greensboro, we seek to live out our values every day in the work that we do and in the manner in which we engage with our volunteers, our donors, and most importantly the individuals and families whom we serve. As a part of living those values, we place an emphasis on relationships that transform lives, strengthen families, and help break the cycle of poverty.

Habitat Greensboro’s work removes barriers and creates opportunities for homeownership for all individuals in need of affordable housing, willing to partner with us, and have an ability to pay an affordable mortgage. Our vision is a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Habitat for Humanity was born with a goal of inclusivity and equality.

Habitat for Humanity was founded in rural South Georgia in the 1940s, at a time when inclusivity was seen by some as an existential threat. Habitat’s founder believed in treating his black neighbors in the same way that he treated his white neighbors – as was consistent with Jesus’ command to love one another but was at odds with the social circumstances of the day. It is a vision of a world we still believe in and fight to build every day.

The last few months have been enormously challenging for our ministry. The last few days, even more so. We encourage everyone to reflect on the challenges faced by our brothers and sisters of color and to come build with us a world where everyone has a decent place to live, regardless of their race, faith, or no faith.

In partnership,
