Greensboro, NC – October 11, 2025 – Habitat for Humanity of Greater Greensboro celebrated the construction on a new single-family home for future homeowner, Cherrie, on Friday, October 10 in Greensboro.
This kickoff marks another step in Habitat Greensboro’s mission to build safe, stable, and affordable housing for families in the community. The new home will be built in partnership with local businesses, faith-based organizations, and dedicated volunteers who are joining together to make affordable homeownership possible.
Cherrie, a hardworking mother, shared her excitement for what this milestone means for her and her children, saying, “Looking forward to having a nice affordable home where I can live and be happy and take care of my kids. I’m hoping to be happy and at peace.”
Christine Byrd, Chief Development Officer of Habitat Greensboro, reflected on the importance of this moment: “Each home we build represents more than walls and a roof… it’s a foundation for stability, safety, and opportunity. Cherrie’s journey embodies the heart of what Habitat Greensboro is all about: empowering families to build brighter futures through affordable homeownership.”
Through the Habitat program, Cherrie will work alongside volunteers to help build her home, investing sweat equity and dedication into a place her family can finally call their own.
