growing a legacy
building it forward

Habitat Greensboro’s Build It Forward Legacy Society was established for donors and volunteers who wanted to leave a legacy to Habitat Greensboro beyond their lifetime. Donors like Margaret “Peggy” Ware, who left an estate gift to Habitat Greensboro earlier this year.

Peggy, as her friends knew her, lived in the Well-Spring Retirement Community for the past 20 years, where she was known for her beautiful garden. “Peggy was always involved in everything and didn’t hesitate to speak up and get involved. Everyone loved her garden, and she took great pride in it,” said one of her friends at Well-Spring. Having a yard for their children to play in and a place to plant a garden is one of the greatest joys for Habitat Greensboro’s homeowners. Thanks to Peggy’s thoughtful planning, many more gardens will be planted by Habitat Greensboro homeowners.

Planning a legacy gift can be as simple as designating a percentage of your IRA, Life Insurance Policy, or Investment Account by completing a beneficiary designation form. It’s important to talk to your financial advisors and your family about your Will and Estate Plans. Our development team would be happy to speak with you about our plans or to send information about planning your legacy gift. Additional information is also available on our website at habitatgreensboro.org/give by selecting “Legacy Giving.”
