As we prepare for Lent on Ash Wednesday, we open our hearts and minds to a time of reflection and preparation for Easter. It’s a season for listening and reflecting on what Lent can bring to our lives and the lives of others through us.
Habitat for Humanity was founded, and continues to operate, as a Christian organization. We are committed to being a totally inclusive organization, while also remaining true to our vision, mission, and principles as the foundation for all that we say and do. Devotions, prayer, and other practices help our organization hear God’s voice and stay focused on what is most important in our affordable housing ministry.
Habitat Greensboro would like to offer you and your members some options for sharing the season of Lent, while also having an opportunity for a quiet time of reflection. Please contact Kelley Elmore at 336-232-0131 or [email protected] if your faith community would like to receive House Banks for members of your congregation to participate in one or more of the Lenten opportunities below.
- LENT Household 40 Days of Giving Calendar: A simple way for families to share time together during the season of Lent. The action of giving to others is through an “action” calendar that guides you with a thought for the day related to affordable housing and by placing a small gift in the Habitat House Bank provided. “Count your blessings – Share your blessings.” At the end of Lent, the children take the funds their family has collected to their faith community so that it can be donated toward affordable housing and the next Building on Faith Sponsored House.
- LENT 40 Days of Prayer & Service Calendar: Another simple way for families to share time together during the season of Lent with a focus on prayer and service. Each day provides a prayer or task to complete and an opportunity to share a small donation in the Habitat House Bank which will go toward affordable housing and the next Building on Faith Sponsored House. “Count your blessings – Share your blessings.”
- Lenten Devotions: Habitat for Humanity International has created a collection of devotionals, set up for weekly reflection, to help guide us through the season of Lent. What will the season of Lent bring to your life?
