can help families build strength, stability, and independence
Join Us On International Builds
Global Villages Builds, also known as mission trips, give volunteers and staff the opportunity to build homes – and relationships – in communities outside of the area we typically serve. The trips generally last from 7 to 10 days and are held twice each year. For questions regarding signing up for a build in Honduras, please contact Josie Farley at [email protected] | 336-232-0136, or complete the interest form found here.

general questions
Who can join the mission trip to Honduras?
This trip is open to Habitat Greensboro volunteers, staff, and supporters who are passionate about making a difference and are ready for a hands-on experience. Participants must be at least 18 years old, in good physical health, and have a willingness to learn and work alongside the local community.
What will we be doing during the trip?
Participants will work side-by-side with local community members and Habitat Honduras staff to build and improve housing and neighborhood infrastructure. Activities may include construction tasks such as mixing concrete, laying bricks, painting, and other projects to enhance access to safe, stable housing.
Usually, the first day is a “travel day” so volunteers can get setup and organized in the hotel. Then there are 5 full days on the build site. Volunteers are expected to be ready for the bus each more at 7:30am to travel to the build site for a full day of work, travel back to the hotel area in the evening for dinner and a debriefing. On the sixth day, volunteers will have another “travel day” back to get close to the airport and a final debriefing. On the seventh day, volunteers will depart from the airport first thing in the morning.
Do I need construction experience to participate?
No prior construction experience is needed! Habitat staff and local professionals will provide training and guidance throughout the trip. All that’s required is enthusiasm, a commitment to teamwork and respect, and a willingness to work hard.
What is included in the trip cost?
The trip cost typically covers airfare, lodging, meals, local transportation, travel insurance, and a donation to Habitat Honduras. We anticipate the costs will be between $3,900 – $5,000 this year, but details about specific costs could slightly change based on the size of our volunteer team.
How do I prepare for the trip?
Once registered, participants will receive a detailed trip guide with packing lists, travel tips, and information about the local culture and climate. Additionally, pre-trip meetings will be held to answer questions, review safety guidelines, and build team camaraderie.
