What is Americorps?
AmeriCorps (pronounced Ameri-core) is a network of local, state, and national service programs that connects more than 75,000 Americans each year in intensive service to meet our country’s critical needs in education, public safety, health, and the enviroment. -AmeriCorps website
Americorps was founded in 1994 and is often referred to as a domestic Peace Corps. Habitat partners with the Corporation for National and Community Service to place AmeriCorps members at local Habitat affiliates and partner organizations. AmeriCorps members interact with the community, build homes, lead volunteers, increase capacity and help improve productivity.
Since then, more than 7,000 Habitat AmeriCorps members have performed over 12 million hours of service, and:
- Served more than 15,000 families throughout the United States.
- Mobilized and engaged over 2.5 million volunteers.
- Raised tens of millions of dollars.
Open AmeriCorps Positions
Habitat Greensboro is seeking 6 new AmeriCorps members for the upcoming year – two Construction Crew Leaders, a Volunteer Services Coordinator, a Resource Development member, a Homebuyer Education Coordinator, and a Family Services Coordinator.
