Some 100 volunteers will come together to “Rock the Block®” in Greensboro’s Poplar Ridge neighborhood on Saturday, June 3 from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. This new event pairs Habitat Greensboro staff and volunteers with neighborhood homeowners to repair and revitalize this Habitat Greensboro neighborhood. Among the tasks to be completed are refreshing vinyl siding, replacing mailboxes, painting, mowing and mulching as well as reseeding lawns. Habitat Greensboro staff will also present a home-repair workshop focusing on drywall repair and basic plumbing.
The Greensboro Police Department, the Greensboro Fire Department and the Pace Car Program, a resident-based initiative designed to help control traffic on busy Greensboro streets, will be on hand to share important information with homeowners during lunch at 11:30 a.m. Alamance Presbyterian Church, a Habitat lunch ministry partner, will provide a cookout lunch for all “Rock the Block®” workers. Outdoor children’s activities are also planned. The volunteer gathering location is 4300 Joy Ann Terrace; volunteers should arrive by 8 a.m.
