Restructuring our ReStores

The COVID-19 pandemic, though challenging, has brought with it many opportunities and a greater awareness and sense of thankfulness. While the pandemic required that we pause volunteer participation, suspend retail operations at both ReStores, and furlough staff members, it also allowed for an organizational assessment of our strengths and our opportunities to emerge a strong organization. As we begin a phased reopening, we are making the organizational changes necessary to be the leader in affordable housing the community needs.

Over the past several years, Habitat Greensboro has sought to expand our impact through the opening of a second ReStore. We embarked upon this growth to support our mission, serve more families, and have a greater impact on the availability of affordable housing in our community.

Unfortunately, the Lawndale ReStore has proven less successful than anticipated. Therefore, to be good stewards of our resources, we must close this location. This is a difficult decision, but one we believe will enable us to be a stronger community partner. This change will not be immediate – the store will continue to remain open until a new lessee is identified.

We are extremely grateful for the support of the community which allowed the opening of a second ReStore. We appreciate your understanding and continued support as we seek to continue providing low-cost home goods that support the funding of safe, stable, and affordable housing in Greensboro.
