On October 20th, Habitat Greensboro raised the walls of the 5th house in our Building on Faith program. We are honored to announce the interfaith partnership with Temple Emanuel, our local American Muslim community, and 17 Christian congregations working side-by-side. When Jews, Muslims, and Christians work together in the name of our one God, God is honored – and our community is stronger.
The day was dreary and rainy, but it did not dim the smiles of the family that beamed with pride, as members of many faith communities wrote their prayers and blessings on the walls. Dr. Akir Khan wrote, “Even though we call God by different names, we are all working together as one Abrahamic family as we positively impact the lives of others pursuing the American dream.”
How life-changing this house will be for the family, and how transformational for our community! Relationships are built across our differences as we celebrate how every person is made in the image of God. Rabbi Fred Guttman said, “May this home we build keep alive the beauty of our faith heritages.”
