Small Wonders Scholarship Program Overview
Small Wonders Endowment Fund Scholarship Program came to life in December 2010 after a generous “seed money” donation from Ms. Joyce S. Powers. Since that time the scholarship program has grown by leaps and bounds. Small Wonders has provided funding for more than 50 scholarships awarded to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Greensboro homeowners and dependents of homeowners. The scholarship program provides an academic avenue for recipients attending trade, occupational, or skill schools; two-year and four-year accredited post-secondary universities and/or colleges.
The Small Wonders Scholarship Program consists of four (4) types of awards: The Leadership Award (TLA), The Pathfinder Award (TPA), Homeowner Legacy Award (HLA) and the HHGG Integrity Grant. Scholarships are both merit and service based and awarded annually through the endowment fund. Awards are not automatically renewed. Applicants must reapply to the scholarship program each year. The recipient must be accepted for enrollment at an accredited institution at the time of application.
Recipients of Small Wonders must complete eight (8) hours of volunteer service with Habitat for Humanity prior to receiving award. The volunteer service may be completed at a Habitat Greensboro ReStore, Habitat Greensboro Administration Office, at a construction site, or Habitat Greensboro event.
